The story that God is telling in the world is one of a creation that was made in peace, but fell into conflict and brokenness, but through Jesus he has redeemed and will one day restore all things. Each person is invited into that story by believing that Jesus is our redeeming, and turning away in repentance from the false peace that the world promises.
